Frequently Asked Questions
How does osteopathy work?
Osteopathy is a skilled, non-invasive treatment that removes strain and restores function to the body's musculoskeletal and physiological systems. Craniosacral therapy is a sub-specialty of manual osteopathy. It is a gentle massage technique that supports the flow of cerebrospinal fluid to relieve pain, stress, and nervous system imbalances.
Who is osteopathy safe for?
Due to it's gentle, non-invasive, and all-natural approach, osteopathy and craniosacral therapy is considered safe and effective for all ages — from newborn babies to seniors. As ever, however, always consult with your primary doctor to get the go-ahead should you have any questions or concerns.
What should I wear for my appointment?
Manual osteopathy and craniosacral therapy often get compared to registered massage therapy as relaxing and effective forms of pain relief. That said, visits to an osteopath have you remain fully clothed for the duration of the treatment. We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that won't restrict your mobility or cause you sensory sensitivity.
What can I expect during my first visit?
For your first visit at Osteopathy First, Ernest Geid will fully review your intake forms and perform any relevant assessments. From there, all that's left to do is melt into relaxation as he provides the remainder of the treatment.
